A day in the life of...
Jenni Allen - Information Architect & Solutions Manager
The first coffee of the day and I'm ready to read my emails! After that it's time for a progress check with the team leaders discussing issues and ideas on active projects. We usually have at least five projects on the go in software development at any one time.
Now I know the latest on what's happening here at planet Amatica, by about 10:15am I'll be on the phone to update clients, chase for specifications, content or partner resources, notify changes of schedule, and keep in touch with our sales and account management guys.
Then on to the best bit of the day. From about 11:00am I have my creative head on focusing on design contributions, concept and software architecture planning and so on.
Lunch - sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I try not to eat at my desk these days as I've worked out I how much more use I am later if I've had a break. Doesn't always work, but I try.
In the afternoon I might be continuing with design or writing depending on what we're up to and how well the creative juices are flowing or maybe a project review or client/sales meeting. Today it's internal business - a 3:30pm kick-off meeting to discuss a new project. Afterwards, there's a further round of calls, following up on the day's activities and if the team are nice to me I make them a coffee!
There's always a lot to pull together at the end of the day and it often results in sending another batch of emails - which completes the cycle of the day!
Then, I put my other hat on and go and pick up my gorgeous daughter from school!
