Durham MBC
Project:
Managed Internet Access System
Sector:
Public Sector/Local Government
Target:
Museum visitors
The Requirement
Durham County Council's requirement was to provide internet access to visitors to the region's museum. Desktop PC's were not suitable or robust enough, as they would be located in the museum's public café area. In addition, the museum wished to discourage individuals from monopolising the facilities by spending long periods on the Internet.
The Solution
Amatica designed and managed the installation of secure, token operated information points in the museum's café area.
The Outcome
The information points are more robust than traditional PC's, the kiosks can withstand the rigours of everyday use and minor spillages while a token payment system ensures users have a fixed amount of time to surf the internet.
