The Requirement
Bank of Scotland International, part of the Halifax Bank of Scotland Group, offers a range of offshore banking and savings accounts, mortgages and trust services to high net worth clients and expatriates.
With 225 staff located on the offshore islands of Jersey, the Isle of Man and Hong Kong, a central location where all staff are able to access critical information and documents, as well as corporate and industry news, is vital to the organisation.
Having already delivered the design for BoSI's new website, Amatica was contracted to develop the organisation's corporate intranet.
Amatica's brief was to build a global intranet, to be known as BoSINet, and provide a single point of access to a broad range of information, including contact points for all staff, key documentation, company announcements and news as well as social events.
BoSINet would also have the facility to stream relevant content to each location, effectively giving each region and department its own flavour.
Importantly, Bank of Scotland International staff would require access to update and maintain content themselves in an efficient and easy to use way. The launch of BoSINet was scheduled within 12 weeks.
The Solution
Using the ProXimity Content Management Suite, Amatica has created a user friendly, scalable intranet that can be used by all offshore staff to keep abreast of company information and developments, regardless of their location.
Key features include a dynamic news database, searchable company directory, showing a full structure and management hierarchy of the company, events calendar and document library, presented in a user maintainable, efficient and accessible way. This gives BoSI staff a powerful yet easy to use intranet with which they can keep in touch and share information and documentation that enables them to serve their customers more effectively.
BoSINet also links to several external HBOS group and financial services websites.
In order to preserve the integrity of BoSINet, ProXimity provides content creation, editorial and authorisation as well as workflow controls.
The Outcome
The intranet enhances BoSI employees ability to work cooperatively and effectively, ensuring that staff can keep in touch no matter where they are located.
Staff can readily access documents and other information more easily, which enables them to focus on their core responsibilities.
Tailored content for regions and departments gives flexibility and information is published in a timely and consistent manner across the entire organisation.
Local authors and content managers can create and control intranet content without having to acquire expensive IT skills and knowledge.
