ASKBM.CO.UK tops the league in independent survey
Birmingham Midshires' website ASKBM.CO.UK is ranked as the best of the UK's major bank and building society sites. Business2WWW, market leaders in evaluating function, reliability and performance of websites undertook the survey.
ASKBM.CO.UK tops the league table which includes heavyweight financial services organisations such as Barclays, Halifax, Nat West and Alliance & Leicester.
Of the 'big four' heavyweights, Lloyds TSB is highest in 5th place behind Bradford & Bingley and Cheshire Building Society in 4th and 3rd places respectively. Second place in the league went to Co-operative Bank.
The survey measured bank and building society websites against a criteria including accessibility and conformance to W3C - World Wide Web Consortium's web accessibility initiative(WAI). Business2WWW are also used by SOCITM to measure reliability and performance of central and local government websites.
Websites were also measured for their download performance, errors, missing images and broken links.
ASKBM.CO.UK's lead position in the independent survey follows on previous awards and surveys including nominations for YELL.COM awards and number one financial services website rating by Blays' Internet Rating Service in 2001.
