Integrated e-Government kiosk solution for Southwark Council
Amatica has been awarded the contract to project manage the software development and installation of 8 interactive touchscreen Internet kiosks for Southwark Council.
The kiosks will be located in Southwark's one-stop-shops and neighbourhood offices within the Peckham area and will provide local residents with access to housing information. The project is part of Southwark's e-Government initiative and extends online access to disadvantaged groups.
Southwark's kiosks are being installed with integrated push button telephone handsets to enable debit card payments and more detailed customer enquiries to be handled. Combined magnetic and smart card reader facilities will be integrated to accommodate future plans for electronic citizen cards.
'Envoy' kiosks have been selected on the basis on their design, construction and suitability for public access use. Envoy kiosks are already successfully used by the NHS Direct for its Information Points.
The project is being co-ordinated by IT outsourcing company ITNET who manage IT infrastructure and services for Southwark Council. Amatica are ITNET's chosen technology partner for kiosk and associated technologies.
