Wireless e-voting at the Merseyside Innovations Awards 2003

The eighth annual Merseyside Innovation Awards took place at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Liverpool on the 3rd July. The awards aim to recognise and reward the use of innovation as a means of boosting growth and profitability and employment.

As a sponsor of the awards, Action MultiMedia designed and supplied a wireless e-voting system for the award ceremony.

A series of touchscreen kiosks were placed around the hall for attendees to cast their vote, once they had listened to the presentations given by the finalists. Results were updated and shown live on the display screen at the front of the hall. Action MultiMedia also designed the touchscreen interface used on the kiosks at the event.

The winner of this popular vote, taking over 50% of all the votes cast, was Quay Technologies, who also won the official award for 2003.

Action MultiMedia designed and supplied the wireless e-voting system in partnership with our partners Cogent and Redten Computers. Cogent designs, builds, integrates, maintains and operates telecommunications networks for the public sector, including many local authorities. Redten Computers supplied their Howie touchscreen terminal, which itself was the winner of 2002's "Best Use of Technology Award", presented by Liverpool City Council.

Action MultiMedia now operates under the trading name of Amatica.
