Bowled over at Amatica
All work and no play is a recipe for disaster, so to prove that there’s more to life at Amatica than software and servers, we all headed off for a night of bowling this week (ten pin, rather than crown green).
Guided by our in-house bowling expert and trainer Ian, we lined up the drinks, slipped into our sneakers and prepared to do battle – girls vs boys. Unfortunately for Ian, he was nominated to be an honorary girl for the evening (just to even up the numbers!).
Things didn’t start well when the girls’ lane broke down, giving the boys team a head start and a chance to chalk up an early lead.
MD Sue got the girls off to a flying start with a strike, but even after commandeering star bowler Ian from the boy’s team, they still couldn’t quite match the other team’s scores.
After two surprisingly competitive games, the boys claimed victory, though Ian clocked up the highest score on the board - even after switching to playing right handed during the last game to give the girls a chance to catch up!
But how’s this for dedication to the job? After an eventful night of bowling, technical services’ Kevin and Andy then headed back to the office to complete work on a major server reorganisation.

What also impressed was the speed in which this project was started and then through to its launch date - all done with exceptional quality and care.
