Set in 500 acres in the idyllic Dorset countryside, Kingcombe Environmental Studies Centre offers courses in natural history and conservation, guided walks and holiday accommodation.

Having seen a significant growth in the popularity of its courses, Kingcombe’s new Director, Dave Aplin, recognised that the Centre’s website was the key to sustaining this growth and raising its profile. But first, the website would need a major makeover.

With little more than a month to complete the project, Amatica rose to the challenge and has created a new website with improved design and navigation, content management facilities and crucially, an online reservations system for the Centre’s courses and accommodation.

The new website’s colour scheme reflects the Centre’s environmental themes, while the navigation and structure has been greatly improved, resulting in a much more satisfying user experience.

At the heart of the website is the online reservations facility. Prior to its launch, visitors could only book a course by phone or online enquiry form. Visitors can now see at a glance which courses are available and reserve and pay via the online facility.

For Kingcombe, this streamlines the entire process and ensures enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Availability is updated automatically when a reservation request is made, ensuring that the information advertised on the website is always current.

Supporting this is Proximity, Amatica’s content management solution. It enables Kingcombe’s staff to publish course information directly to its website and quickly update rates and other details if necessary.
