Action MultiMedia is behind an innovative approach to customer service being implemented by Birmingham Midshires

The Midlands based mortgage, savings and general insurance provider (now part of the HBoS group) has recently installed a number of stylish new kiosks, known as the Futura Kristal at several branches in Birmingham, Worcester and Liverpool.

The refurbished Birmingham Midshires branches offer customers a variety of formats to obtain guidance and information on the full range of accounts and services available. The aim of the kiosk pilot is to improve customer service by reducing queues, leaving counter staff free to deal with banking transactions and more in-depth enquiries.

The elegant Futura Kristal kiosk was designed by Action MultiMedia especially for the retail market based on its 6 years' experience in the kiosk arena. Its attractive, sleek profile and use of edge-lit side screens offers a stylish alternative to many of the rather dull kiosks that are currently available in the retail sector.

The kiosk will initially host Birmingham Midshires' highly successful website www.askbm.co.uk. Designed by Action MultiMedia and Birmingham Midshires, it features facilities for on-line applications, the Birmingham Midshires range of savings and investment accounts, credit card and personal loans, as well as a host of easy-to-navigate information about other accounts on offer.

Staff and customer feedback to date has been very promising, with customers in the Midlands showing great interest in using the new "easy access" technology.

Birmingham Midshires operates as a division of Halifax plc and provides a range of specialist lending, savings and general insurance products to customers throughout the UK.
