Mental Health Information System For Oxleas NHS Trust

Public access kiosks and a unique content management system are helping to deliver mental health services in London.

Oxleas NHS Trust delivers a range of mental health and learning disability services across the London boroughs of Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich. One key objective is to improve access to support information for patients, their friends and families. Recognising the need for specialist expertise, Oxleas has brought in public access experts Action MultiMedia to develop the system and assist the project's delivery.

One of Oxleas' primary health care centres in each of the three boroughs will host an Action Multimedia kiosk facility, featuring a range of information to help patients both at diagnosis and during their ongoing care.

Failure to keep information up-to-date is a significant danger and Action MultiMedia has developed an exclusive content management system to support authorised members of Oxleas' staff in maintaining content. This will ensure that content can be kept up-to-date independently of either the Action MultiMedia or Oxleas' IT teams.

Drawing together key information on subjects including conditions, prescribed treatments, side effects, and patient legal rights, the kiosks will provide a readily accessible and user friendly access point for Oxleas' patients.

This project is being launched at centres in the Oxleas area at the end of April 2003.

Action MultiMedia now operates under the trading name of Amatica.
