63% of adults access the internet

The latest figures from the National Statistics Office reveal that 63% of the UK adult population - 29 million people - accessed the Internet in February 2006.

The majority of these users accessed the web at home (86%), while 46% went online at work.

The survey also reveals that 67% of adults have bought or ordered goods or services. Adults aged 25-44 are the most likely to buy on-line (73%). However, security concerns deter around a third of the population from shopping online.
