Self service kiosks bring online access to rural communities
Amatica has completed the installation of 18 touchscreen kiosks across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, for a consortium of 4 local councils. The kiosks enable local citizens to access the councils’ websites and more than 40 online council services.
The kiosks have been installed in highly visible and accessible public locations, including libraries, leisure centres, a youth hostel, and a convenience store.
Amatica designed a customised, branded touchscreen interface for each of the four councils in the consortium. In addition, a touchscreen interface to Anite’s Pericles revenues and benefits system was designed for Staffordshire Moorlands Council. This provides access to the council's revenue and benefits system, enabling the public to track progress of their claims and payments and make service requests to the council.
The touchscreen interface, designed by Amatica, is easy to use and branded for each council. Though the kiosk itself does not have a keyboard, the interface offers a touchscreen keyboard, enabling users to compose emails or complete online forms if necessary. Each kiosk is equipped with a printer and card reader.
Amatica was awarded the contract by leading government software and services provider, Serco, on behalf of a consortium of four district councils in Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
