Birmingham Midshires' website ASKBM.CO.UK is the fastest financial services website rated by performance analysts SiteMorse. ASKBM's high position continues its achievement of consistent top 10 ratings throughout 2004.

ASKBM.CO.UK secured an overall 2nd position in the SiteMorse league table for January 2005 behind Britannia building society. Birmingham Midshires was one of only three financial services websites to achieve 100% "A" rating for accessibility and its speed of response was over 680 times faster than the slowest financial services website.

Continuing the trend for poor performance, none of the financial services heavyweights managed a top 10 rating. Over 50% of websites analysed by SiteMorse failed to deliver acceptable download performance for modem users; a considerable failing as over 50% of home users don't have access to broadband. Despite increasing awareness of accessibility issues and the disability discrimination act, organisations such as Halifax, Leeds & Holbeck, Lloyds TSB and even the Financial Services Authority failed to meet acceptable levels within their websites.
