Low screen resolutions remain significant with Internet users

Internet users are resisting the trend to upgrade screen resolution and standing by what is often seen as a surpassed standard. Current industry surveys claim that between 33% and 44% of Internet users have retained their allegiance to 800x600 screen resolutions.

While Internet access by users with 1024x768 screen resolutions has grown to account for between 42% and 64%, a substantial minority, at least a third of users, are staying with 800x600 as their screen resolution setting.

Jenni Allen, Amatica's chief technology officer responsible for the delivery of its Internet development and technical services warns web marketers and designers to beware of falling into the trap of assuming that everyone follows technology trends. "Any business that communicates with businesses or consumers using a website design which fails to adequately support 800x600 still runs the risk of alienating a significant number of potential clients".
